If you’re running a Monitor Heater in the home or if the Auto Fill program isn’t an option, you’ll need to check the levels in your tank regularly. In the summer most people turn their heat down; regular monthly level checks would be adequate for summer. Winter months are much colder, the wind and rain play a large role in fuel consumption and we would recommend at least twice a month depending on household size.

We do provide measuring sticks at a small cost and they can be brought to your location at the time of delivery. The measuring sticks are a great way to manage your tank levels. Some people also use a tape measure. Other people will use a dowel and put a sharpie mark on it to indicate the “low” level to prompt a phone call for fuel services.

Always make sure to call at least 2-4 days ahead, especially in the winter months. Same day delivery in the colder months isn’t always an option.

We also recommend keeping a 10 gallon jug of fuel in a safe area of the home for the off chance you run out of fuel. We will deliver in these emergency cases but will charge a “call out fee” for any after hour deliveries. 10 gallons will assure you to get through the night until we can get to your location.

Getting to know your system is very important. Once you get the gauge on what your household size consumes, fuel levels should stay consistent. If changes are made to your system, tank size or if you have visitors in town for a longer period of time, your usage will fluctuate. Especially if you're heating the hot water with oil. Extra loads of laundry, dishes and showers will definitely make a difference to your home's usage.
